I have a big booty and I cannot lie... but in all seriousness I know it's there and that everyone can see it. But I've never had an issue with my butt. I grew up an athlete and was definitely curvier than most teenage girls, so I had to accept my muscles. Then again, accepting muscles and strength isn't the thing I struggled with... Sure, being a teenager wearing a couple sizes larger than most of my friends felt awful. I always thought I was fat and that something was wrong with me. I just wish I could go back to the "fat" I thought I was then because my rear end looked great in high school!
It's hard gaining weight, and I hate that I still refer to myself as fat today. Living size positive is hard. It's way too easy to just compare myself to everyone on social media, my girlfriend, and the other women I work with. But being size positive is a great way to boost self confidence. Think about it, if you hate that you have to wear a size 18 jean out with your girlfriends, how can you even have fun? Life is way too short to be worried about the size on your tag, and we all know that the fashion industry as a whole could improve the way they size clothes. Anyways, negative thoughts about my weight or the size I wear isn't benefiting me, it's only benefiting those individuals who discriminate against fuller figured women and stores which refuse to sell plus size clothes. I choose to wear clothes that make me feel comfortable and that inspire a positive attitude.
My absolute favorite clothing item which always makes me feel and look my absolute best is what I call "fun pants." These are those super soft pants that can either be flowy or form fitting. You know, the ones that look effortlessly cute and chic! I absolutely love this pair from Urban Outfitters, although I will say that it's a bit hard to squeeze my butt into these, so be aware of the sizing! I also adore this cute flowy tank top from Nordstrom Rack which is so flattering and pairs great with anything you can think of! I also like to wear it is a first layer under more shear designed tops. And of course, you can never go wrong with a pair of Birkenstocks! These are so comfortable and have lasted me three years so far, and yes they are definitely worth the investment! Last but not least, if you're not into carrying super bulky purses around (or only carry around your phone and wallet), these Fossil bags (1, 2, 3, and 4) will be a great fit for you!
Let me know how you stay size positive in the comments below! I'd love to learn from you all!
Love Always,
Dani
